90s Skateboarding | Marker Artwork
Before the later 90s, when skateboarding became increasingly defined by technical progression, there was already another current running through it. Skaters like Barker Barrett, Andy Howell, Chris Pastras and Ed Templeton and others, all brought their own style and personality to skating, which was ultimately far more interesting than a skater’s worth being based on a bigger is better kinda mentality centered around stair counts and handrail length. They proved that style and ideas could be as influential as ability.
